The Liverpool Mercury outdid itself with one descriptive entry though:
'Of two horses that were grazing in a field near Abercromby Square, one was struck dead by lightning, the other was not touched'.
The fate of all the other horses in Liverpool is sadly not recorded, but thankfully we at least know one was not touched.
